  1. Anybody remember that Jimmy Gordon is playing on
Tom Waits classic "The Heart Of Saturday Night" on
Asylum from '74? Besides playing swinging jazz, he even does knee slap & foot tap on the title song!

  2. I've been trying to figure out who plays drums on "The Heart of Saturday Night" for some time now....different drummers are credited on different releases of the record...if anyone can confirm Jim for sure that would be amazing!

  3. Yes that is Jim Gordon on "Saturday Night" by Tom
Waits. Just bought a pristine vinyl copy re-issue
that comes with liner notes. The band is mainly
Jim on drums,Mike Melvoin on piano, Jim Hughart on
upright bass,Arthur Richards on guitar, Tom Scott
plays sax with Oscar Brashear on trumpet. Even Bones Howe the producer plays some percussion on one tune.
